Reading Wrap-Up: December 2021
Dec. 31st, 2021 07:23 pmOnce again I only read one thing: Star Wars Volume 10: The Escape (Star Wars #55-60) written by Kieron Gillen, art by Salvador Larroca. I think there was a second artist for a few of the issues, but I don't have it in front of me at the moment.
While on the run from the Empire, Han, Luke, and Leia get stranded on a moon that chose to cut itself off from the galaxy after the Clone Wars. It was pretty good, I guess? I feel like the 'planet cut off from the galaxy' plot has been done a lot in the comics (off the top of my head it shows up in Obi-Wan & Anakin, Captain Phasma, and Yoda's Secret War at least), but in this case the person who made the decision to cut themself off is still around, which puts a different spin on things. The character stuff is okay and there were some nice visual puns, plus Gillen brought back the Commander Kreel/Scar Squadron plot, hopefully that will be resolved next volume.
Volume 11 seems to be out of stock in physical print everywhere, so I don't know when I'll get around to reading it.
