I don't know if it's climate change or I just didn't notice the super cold days as much as a kid (we did get school canceled occasionally for cold rather than snow). For a while we would get notifications about polar vortexes, but the past few years the news/weather apps haven't made a big deal about it and that's just what happens in January. There is a day in next week's forecast with a low of -13.
