Challenge #1

Update your fandom information. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
My fandom information is basically the same but I made some minor edits to my Intro Post.

Challenge #2

In your own space, set yourself some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
First, let's review last year's goals and see how I did:

2023 Fannish Goals:
  • Read 50 total books, 7 nonfiction. ✅
  • Finish reading the 2015 main Star Wars comic run and the concurrent Dr. Aphra run, start reading the 2020 run written by Charles Soule ✅
  • Finish at least two of my currently in-progress Star Wars vids. ❌ (only managed 1 of 2)
  • Make another Babylon 5 vid ❌
2023 Non-Fannish Goals:
  • Get an eye exam ❌
  • Find a new PCP doctor and get my epi-pen renewed, it's is so expired ✅
  • Continue cooking from scratch on a regular basis and try a new recipe at least once a month✅
  • Enjoy life as much as possible, maybe find a direction that feels meaningful along the way.❌
  • Get out hiking more ✅
  • Visit The House On The Rock ✅
So 2/4 fannish goals achieved, 4/6 non-fannish. And I suppose "find meaning in life" was a bit too ambitious for a single year.

2024 Goals:

A good chunk of these are fannish, but not all.

Reading Goals:
  • Read 60 books
  • 18 of those being nonfiction
  • Finish reading Star Wars: The High Republic Phase I
  • Finish two other book series I've started but not completed, preferably ones that I already have the last volume(s) of on my TBR pile.

Creative Goals:
  • Make & post 3 fanvids
  • Finish 3 fibercraft projects, now that my hand pain is better.
  • Do 5 writing exercises from a book of prompts I have

Monthly Goals:
  • Watch at least 1 new movie per month
  • Go on at least 1 outing/social excursion per month.
  • Cook at least 1 new recipe per month

I also have some goals related to my living space, health, school, and work, but I think I'll keep them private for now.

Really cool results in terms of goals achieved :D I like the idea of monthly goals for sustained new habits! I actually have a spot for "new recipe" as my part of my monthly spread in my Bullet Journal, but it's been empty for many months... 🥲 I think I probably need to break it down and like, have a pre-made list of new recipes I can pick from. Do you have a cookbook or some plans on how you will do this? (I wouldn't mind tips, haha :D).

Best of luck with your goals! The variety looks great for a lovely, well-rounded year!

I feel incredibly foolish for not thinking of making a list of recipes to try in advance haha. I think even just flicking through cookbooks to find interesting things to make would make trying one of them something exciting to look forward to as opposed to randomly screaming "I'm sick of eating the same 6 things all the time!" and then kinda feeling overwhelmed and doing nothing haha. I'm excited! Thanks for sharing your process :D

What a great mixture of goals!

As for the 2023 accomplishments, those are pretty impressive!
"find meaning of life" feels like it's one of those 'forever goals' ;P

I stalled a bit on tracking my own "cook something new each month" and am trying to get back into the swing of that. Do you have a favorite of any of the new recipes you tried last year?

Nice! Sounds very yummy. America's Test Kitchen has some good stuff.
